Can you imagine the weather these days with temperature is rising to the extent of unbearable zone of above 40 degree? What have humanity done to earth only to face this kind of extreme weather is beyond my control, all I do is stay indoor for most of the time. The heat is so great that it can fry an egg if you crack the egg on top of the car, seriously!
So my friend, Hwee May is nice enough to host a dinner gathering to maintain this friendship within the high school group we all form during high school years. Although the intention is good and well thought, I find it weird she would choose a Korea BBQ restaurant for dinner as her reason states she doesn't want to have dinner in Serdang area all the time. We are going to a much classy place called Mont Kiara, a place with tons of Korean restaurant, which means prepare to spend more money for grilled meat with kimchi. The reason of me being uncomfortable with this idea is obviously the weather, the haze is damaging my lung system and BBQ seems only make it worse.
However, this restaurant is receiving a lot of praise from the bloggers and food critics alike. They have the meal set like the photo above that is extremely popular, the meal set include 8 different flavor pork with seafood kimchi soup. It called Palsaik Korean Restaurant and the crowd is huge with long queue. We have to take number to wait for our turn. So in total of 7 person, we chat with each other in hunger and someone suggests us to go to Japanese restaurant instead. Some say yes and some say no, but the organizer Hwee May has insists to wait our turn. I personally wish we can go to Japanese restaurant instead as I write this blog, but times can't be rewind. But I think the Korean drama addiction is getting into her head and she is not analyzing the situation accordingly. As for me, I guess I am weird as I am don't really get the hype of Korean pop song. I mean of course they are pretty, tall and dance like butterfly, but it just not my cup of tea. I prefer dramas like Game of Throne and 2 Broke Girls. My favorite singers would be Adele and Rihanna.
Overall, the dinner is great and the service is well-carry. The lady boss is a warm and nice person who empathies in hospitality for her customers. As for the bill, everyone spend almost 30 ringgits and it is quite pricey consider the foods are not living up to the hype and largely compiled by kimchi and assorted vegetable. Hwee May told me this is the only time she has dinner here as it doesn't worth. In return, I told her it is still a great dinner as we can sit down and talk like those good old days in high school when we are not worrying what so ever in the world. She nodded and agrees with what I say. The dinner ends with lots of photos and laugh out loud conversation.
Yes, that is a pig on my head.
To think it back, I definitely draw a lot of inspiration form this dinner. First, we are not suppose to trust everything on the internet as the bloggers are probably paid to rave this restaurant. Having the benefit of doubt is critical in society today because we live in the era of information and internet obsession. People can easily influenced and manipulated if they do not apply critical thinking skill to certain serious issue like politic and religion. Secondly, the food quality is forgivable if you seat with good friends to share your life experience. My friends have inspire me to think more positive and be happier even though the stress of study is enormous. For impact, I feel that be a happier person is going to help me to achieve in success. Being with friends really help me to get off some of the burden of my shoulder as I share my hardship in my life with them. Sometimes it is easy to contain yourself in a corner while think of ways to get out as I am really stubborn and defensive person when it comes to deep conversation. For action, I will have more insight and perspective on current affair as they will have 2 side of stories from both parties. Also, I will definitely share more intimate details with friends as we have strong bond for our friendship to back us.
